Footwear has become everlasting

Semisynthetic composition capable of regeneration within a few hours is only one of the possibilities of protocell application.

Having mixed several types protocells, manufacturers began to receive materials with unusual properties that are used, for example, to produce 3D-sneakers. These shoes will never wear out, because every night the cells are restored while the shoes are charging.

Running shoes have exactly the same shape as the foot and resemble a second skin. While running, they  respond to the pressure and features of the relief and provide buffering.

JayCor Before the 1980s footwear was already everlasting. if you got the right boots then you simply needed to retread the sole every few years and replace the soles every 20 years or so. many people had the same boots their whole life. Also, if clothing companies continue their current trend of making less and less durable shoes, then at this point they might only last a week.

JayCor (edit) dosnt just apply to boots, any type of shoe that existed before the dawn of the sneaker was like this. (depending on the part of the world I guess but this is a new york prediction)

JayCor (edit, again) if capitalism dies and communistic ideologies become the norm, then this is entirely plausible. (communism can be good if done correctly, we only that its bad because it has only been done by people who are bad at it. but thats a topic for another time)

Joseph Gill This will be completely plausible but companies will build in flaws that still make it so you need a new pair every couple of years. Throughout recent history durability has declined even though we have created materials that should be more durable due to corporate bottom lines.

Kevin Culli I'll have to mark this as a "maybe". More likely, manufacturers will create more advanced materials which are both light and extremely durable. Keep in mind the laws of capitalism, however: products that don't wear out are products which can't be sold more than once. No repeat buyers means no recurring profit. Manufacturers want you to buy their products on a regular basis so that they have the money to keep making them.
