End of the TV era

Traditional linear TV has finally sunk into oblivion, giving way to streaming. This is not surprising, because Internet TV offers the viewer the opportunity to manage content: watch programs at the viewer’s convenience, pause, rewind or fast-forward at your leisure. Moreover, the signal transmission quality is improving every year. TV sets also have changed dramatically: now they are small boxes projecting the image on any flat surface.

Design predator This so true every expert in the world confirming this 25 Feb 2019
Giovanni Dimaggio Projection on a flat surface is old and inconvenient. Virtual reality devices will have developed so that they are very light and comfortable to put on and will projekt content in 3D directly into your eyes without the need of a flat surface (which would also need to be white an uniformly reflective in order to avoid spectral distorsion). Direct projection avoids this. 06 Feb 2019
Japar Sultanov I agree with the fact that by 2050 tv sets will be more like 3d or golographic experience rather than old school projection. Linear tv will end way much earlier than by 50s 06 Feb 2019
Sergei Shik All of these feature are available today. For example Apple TV allows you to watch anything you wish at a any time with a lot of features. I believe, TV would be a lot more advanced that this particular Prediction. 06 Feb 2019
Celia Pryce-Johnson It is not hardly surprise to me because I know it will happen in the future. Television is constantly evolving until a certain time. 06 Feb 2019
Fernando Galindo Rubio Not only TV is dead but all traditional media such as newspaper, radio and, obviousy books. I would add that those traditional mass media have been "transient" media untill the arrive of the Internet Age. In this moment, when the bandwidth is so big than we need, the concept of "mass" and "linear" have no sense. 06 Feb 2019
Will Longaphie I wouldn't discount augmented reality out just yet. Secondly I can also see AI-based companions/pets coming into play here. 06 Feb 2019
Naushad Ishani I agree with Mr Sergei Shik... we do have the facilities of pause rewind and even to records our programs at our own pace.....currently 06 Feb 2019
Jeremy Weinland If VR doesn't do it, for sure everyone (TV providers, channel networks etc.) will have to be well on their way to becoming internet only. TV will be a place to do internet things on the big screen. And I would think this would only be early on. TV is on its way out. 06 Feb 2019
06 Feb 2019
Neil Gupta TV is already disappearing. However, I think OLED is the future, not projectors. Maybe OLED screens built into every or as many surfaces as possible. 06 Feb 2019
