Transport reform

The system of public and private transport has been reconceptualized. People move around the city on electromobiles and flying vehicles with electric microturbines. Transport is AI-controlled, so vehicle owners do not need driving or flying licenses; on public transport there are no drivers at all. Those unable to afford transport ride around on travelators that move more slowly in the outer lanes than in the middle, allowing people to get on and off easily, yet travel quite quickly.  Vehicle size is restricted to enable intercity transport via special tubes through which passengers are propelled at enormous speeds by a powerful air flow. Public transport is made up of small self-driving and self-directing pods accommodating 8-12 people. These “buses” can be called from a smartphone or information stands dotted throughout the city. What’s more, no distinction is made between city and intercity transport—the route can run anywhere in the country. The pod itself calculates which tubes to travel through, picks up fellow travelers along the way, drops you off, and bills you accordingly.
